BE OUR GUEST
We were at Walt Disney World in December for a D23 Event –
Magic and Merriment and the Magic did happen when the friends we met there for
the event suggested that we go with them for their dining reservation at Be Our
Guest on Saturday night and see if they would let them add us on. The check-in line was quite long and when it
came for her turn the guest relations person said she would have to check with
her supervisor as they are quite busy, she returned with a big YES!! And told
us we might have to wait a few minutes longer due to adding us, but we were all
okay with that.
Our journey to the dining hall began with a trip across the
bridge over the mote to the Beasts Castle entrance doors. There you are met by the staff who will seat
you in one of the dining halls. We sat in the Ballroom which is in the middle of the three themed dining halls. We did get to see the West Wing, which is
off to the left back of the Ballroom and is very unique unto itself as it looks
like Beast went on a rampage in this room, with its torn curtains and such, but it
is very well done. The third room is The
Rose Gallery which is only open during lunch, and as such we did not get to see
it.
For the main course two of us had the Sautee
Shrimp and Scallops which was served in a puff pastry in a creamy lobster sauce
and was so good I would like some right now.
Two others had the Pan seared Salmon which was served on a Leek Fondue
with creamy Saffron crushed potatoes, both said it was delicious. And the last
one, of course, my husband had the Grilled Strip Steak with garlic and herb
butter, but instead of the Pomme Frites (French fries) he also had the Saffron
crushed potatoes, which he decided was an excellent choice. Our youngest table guest, who is 6 had an
option of either Grilled Steak or Whole Grain Macaroni topped with Marinara
sauce served with Mozzarella and Seasonal Vegetables, which, not having young
children any more, I was surprised by no Chicken Nuggets! She opted for the Grilled Steak and she must
have liked it because she almost ate it all.
The best part
was dessert, they roll over the dessert
cart which as your choice of either Cream Puffs, Passion Fruit, Lemon-Raspberry or Chocolate
or Cupcakes, Strawberry cream cheese, Lemon Meringue or Triple chocolate, I think
between all of us we tasted all most all of them and you cannot go wrong with
any of them. I was later asked how “The Grey Stuff” was? I was like the
what?? At that point my husband starts sing to me the song “Be Our Guest” to “try the grey stuff,
it’s delicious!”, don’t believe us ask the dishes! Oh that Grey Stuff?? So the
next day I stopped by the check-in for Be Our Guest and ask about the Grey
Stuff and I was told that sometimes the dishes don’t make enough and they run
out, but I later found out that you have to be celebrating something to receive
The Grey Stuff, which is cookies-and-cream whipped panna cotta and I have heard
it is quite delicious (don’t believe me ask the dishes, maybe they will whip
you up some).
During our dining experience, around every half an hour there is some
fanfare music played and the Beast is introduced and walks through the dining
areas and off to the his Study to meet with you after dinner for a photo
opportunity. To see the children’s eyes
light up to see him walk through was just a great moment, everyone was clapping
and enjoying it.
In addition to the great food, there is also
beer and wine on the menu, this is the only place in the Magic Kingdom where
you can get any alcohol and it is only served during dinner, it is a selection
of French and Belgian beers (which my husband just had to try) and French
wines, which sticks to the theme of the restaurant.
We tried to go back at lunch but did not make
it back over there, but our server had explained that you order your meal via an
electronic screen (which you can see in Beast’s Study) you are then given an (electronic)
Rose to place on your table, this lets the kitchen know where you are sitting
and your meal is brought out to you. She
told us the system seems to be working well and might be bought out to other restaurants
at some point
We would defiantly go back again!
Sounds like an amazing time. Can't wait to try it all someday. My mouth is watering from the great pictures. Thanks for sharing such fun times and letting us "eat" with you!
ReplyDeleteGayle - I was posting the photos and thinking I want to go back for dinner now!
DeleteGreat review- I can't wait to try BoG! I've been working feverishly to secure a dinner ADR for an upcoming trip, but it looks like I will have to settle for lunch. Thanks for sharing (and for making me hungry!)...
ReplyDeleteKJay - I should have included in the review that has of Dec. when we were there, they were booked through I think they told us June and a lot of people where walking up to the window thinking they where going to get in for dinner that night and they walking away saying some not very nice things. If you get in for lunch let us know we would love to hear about it (maybe you could write a review for us).

ReplyDeleteLove this restaurant! The Quick Service is one of my favorite on property! Wonder food and plenty of it! Thanks for letting me reminisce!
ReplyDeleteI have a reservation for late April. I'll have to add a celebration to it so we can try the Grey Stuff!
