As many of you know, a month ago I was honored to be included in a unique campaign for a new movie "The Bounce Back". Simply put, this project is one of a kind promotion where we, the blogging community are showing just what is possible when we when we all join forces. If you missed my original article a few weeks ago, you can check it out here at The Bounce Back. You might be asking what the connection is to Disney and Shemar Moore and what drew me to the project in the first place.
On April 8, 2013, beloved Disney Icon Annette Funicello lost
her 25-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis, also known as the great crippler of
young adults. In her autobiography, “A
Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes” in which she detailed her battle with MS and
her relentless drive to find a cure, Annette wrote “It’s funny, but sometimes
when I feel discouraged or have a problem I can’t work out, I find myself thinking,
‘If only Mr. Disney were here, he would know what to do.’ “Annette may have
lost her courageous battle with MS but others around Hollywood continue to help
the battle rage on until a cure is found. One such actor is Shemar Moore, star
of “Criminal Minds” and the up and coming film, “The Bounce Back.”
While appearing on the CBS daytime drama, “The Young and the Restless”, Shemar’s mother was diagnosed with the same disease that strikes 40,000 Americans each year. Moore once told People Magazine “She’s always been Superwoman, but now she’s met her kryptonite.” During the summer of 2006, Shemar found his own way to bring attention to the disease while helping to raise awareness and much-needed funds by putting together a Bike MS cycle team. Over the years, together with other members of the cast and crew of Criminal Minds, Shemar and like-minded people from across America have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars with the dream of an MS free world in our lifetime. For me personally, MS is something close to my heart as I watched a generation of cousins, as well as my uncle succumb to this dreaded disease. The decision to support someone who gives so much to fight this disease was an easy leap for me to take.
Everyone
that knows this remarkable actor agrees on one thing-that Shemar will fight for
what he believes in be it finding a cure for MS or making a film he believes in
with all of his heart and soul. This film is “The Bounce Back”. “I think there is a wonderful poetry to that,
the idea of risking it all for love. And I feel, in my heart, that this is why
we’re here on this planet.” When asked with all his connections, why not just
go to the studios and make the film in the “traditional way” Shemar answered by
saying “I felt that with all my great friends supporting this endeavor, I could
bring this movie to life with a much smaller budget than most Hollywood films
of this caliber. My goal would be that we’d raise half of the 3 million dollar
budget through Indiegogo and outside investors. And if we successfully
accomplish that goal. I will personally put in 1.5 million (the other half of
the budget) so we could begin production immediately”
Now
here’s where you come in.The Bounce Back is almost to its goal but with just 6 days left in the campaign, needs your
help to push it over the top. As a “producer” of the movie, your donation to
the project entitles you to everything from tweets, and spoiler alerts from Shemar himself to walk on roles and a chance to attend the movie premiere or
have an evening out Mr. Moore. If that weren’t enough, starting tonight and
running through the rest of the week, you can enter the Rafflecopter drawing
for some incredible prizes. Now the only
question is-what are you waiting for! Help the man who is working so tirelessly
to eradicate MS help live out his dream.
As
we enter the home stretch of the Bounce Back film campaign, we are so thankful
for all the support and feedback so far. The Bounce Back film officially became
the most funded film on Indiegogo and that is thanks to you, the fans! To celebrate we have an amazing giveaway for
