Happy First Day of School
Yes even on the first day of college Mommy still takes your picture! |
“I gave you a
wink and a smile
As you entered
my room today,
For I know how
hard it is to leave,
And Know your
child must stay.
You’ve been
with them for many years now
And have been a
loving guide
But now, alas,
the time has come
To leave them at
my side.
Just know that
as you walk away
And tears down
your cheeks may flow
I’ll love them as I would my own
And help him
learn and grow.
For as a
parent, I too know
How quickly the
years do pass
And it wasn’t
all that long ago
I took my own
children to class.
So please put
your mind at ease
And cry those
tears no more
For I will love them and take him in
When you leave
them at my door”
Dearest
Parents, Here is a little gift for you as you leave your precious one with me
on this first day of school.
Hold the cotton ball in your hand-the softness
will help you to remember the gentle spirit of your child.
After you’re gone home and dried your tears
with this Kleenex, use the tea bag to make yourself a soothing cup of tea.
Put
your feet up and relax. Remember that together you and I will work for your
child to help them be the very best that they can be.
On behalf of
teachers from all over the country, thank you for entrusting us with your child
for this ensuing school year. We will do everything in our power to be your
child’s guide in learning and exploring this bright, beautiful world they’ve
entered into. And always, always remember that your child’s first and most
important teacher is you!
Gayle is a Disney Gal that loves churros for breakfast, still gets giddy with delight at the first sight of the “Disneyland next exit sign”, loves the overwhelming emotions and memories that come with each and every return to the Happiest Place on Earth and dreams of one day being the Captain of the Jungle Boat. My bag will need a couple boxes of tissues and a bottle of wine when she's off to college next year. Love your poem Gayle :)
ReplyDeleteKelly, I sobbed great big buckets of ugly tears -for the first time in 32 years, I had no one to take to the first day of school. It was rough let me tell you! Twinkies helped and him texting me about loving being in college helped to.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww but Im feeling the same. I havent had to take anyone to school in a while but it was fun to wait for the grandkid at the bus stop yesterday and talk about her first day of kinder.
ReplyDeleteAwww memories
Okay you have me bawling now Mrs Turner :-( I so hope that William's teacher is as kind hearted, generous of spirit and nature, warm and loving as you are Gayle ♥ That was beautiful ♥
