Click Your Heels 3 Times and say "There's No Place Like a #DisneySide Celebration"

The Madrone School Wizard of Oz Cast Gets the #DisneySide Surprise of their Lives!

The name Disney and Magic often go hand in hand and are often interchangeable but at no time was this more evident than at last week’s surprise #DisneySide @ Home Celebration thrown for the Madrone Elementary School Cast of “They Wizard of Oz”.  The 60 cast members thought they were being summoned to an unheard of last minute Friday rehearsal.  After being sequestered in the band room and given ears to put on-to make a Friday rehearsal “just a little more bearable”, the cast was ushered to the cafeteria where the booming “Soundsational Parade Music” could be heard through the cafeteria walls.  Once gathered at the doors, it was explained to them that Walt Disney said it best when he said, “If you can dream it, you can do it.”  The play, which only a few short months before was just a dream, was about to become a reality but in the meantime, it was time for some fun Disney style.

To cheers, shrieks and even a few tears of joy, the doors opened to the big reveal-a party to end all parties. Complete with Disney treats aplenty, music from the Parks, their own
Disney photo booth to capture the moment and non stop fun, to be able to see each of these hard working, amazing and talented young people see what the magic of Disney was all about first hand is a snapshot in my mind that I will hold close to my heart for the rest of my life. One of the highlights of the party was our Wizard of Oz choreographer, who just happened to be one of forty participants chosen last summer for the DisneyPerforming Arts Conservatory teaching the entire cast actual dances from the Disney Parks!

Show us Your #DisneySide With Disney Performing Arts Conservatory

#DisneySide Disney Performing Arts-Live Your Dream

How do you show your #DisneySide? Well if you’re aspiring young performers, you head to Disneyland to become a part of the Disney Performing Arts Conservatory. A few months ago, 40 talented singers, dancers, actors and puppeteers came together to work with the best of the best in Disney mentoring as they lived their dreams with the first ever, one week long, intensive performing arts experience.  A program 6 years in the making and part of the long running Disney Youth Programs, the Disney Performing Arts Conservatory allowed each of these 15-19 year old a chance to see their dreams come alive and experience the magic of performing on the Disney stage.

Each day started bright and early with daily training in each of the disciplines, but along with the dancing, singing and acting rehearsals came surprises as only Disney can do.

The Road to the Disney Performing Arts Conservatory

Just like thousands of other moms throughout the country, we here at the Disney Gals are no different when it comes to being proud of our children and their accomplishments and of course their number one cheerleaders.  For Disney Gal Kelly, it’s watching her instrumentally gifted children as they proudly marched down Main Street in Walt Disney World. Sammy, Disney Gal Lori’s son quite literally is the man on the flying trapeze.  Disney Gal Judy’s son Paul is our social media guru, guiding us each step of the way as we enter our second year. Disney Gal Tricia’s daughter Makena has a heart of gold at the ripe old age of seven as she raises money for Give Kids the World and follows in her mom’s running footsteps having just completed her first 5K.  At our house, Zack is about to live out his dreams of a lifetime when a week from today he will enter the Disney Performing Arts Conservatory at Disneyland Resort in California.

For those unfamiliar with this program, students from across the country will be given the chance to hone their performance skills at the first ever Disney Performing Arts Conservatory. This five-day comprehensive series of workshops focus on select areas of the performing arts including acting, dancing and vocal.  Led by entertainment professionals, students such as Zack will be participating in master classes, will go behind the scenes of beloved Disneyland Resort entertainment offerings as well as learn just what it takes to have a career in the entertainment industry and what it’s like once you achieve your goal. These workshops and classes culminate with a performance put on in Disney California Adventure Park on the Hollywood Back Lot Stage.

On the Road with Disney Performing Arts

Where do you go when you’ve danced your way through life and you’re in between high school and college? For one lucky Disney Gal Son, you head to the Disney Performing Arts Conservatory located in the heart of the magic-Disneyland!  The Conservatory is a five-day comprehensive series of workshops, which focus on acting, dancing and vocals.  Led by the Disney entertainment professionals, participants are treated to what Disney does best-storytelling with daily themes ranging from “Building Story Through Character” to “Putting It All Into Action” all culminating with live performances at  Stage 17 and the Hollywood Land Backlot Stage, both located in Disney California
Adventure Park.

Each day, Zack will be immersed in intensive sessions  where he will learn from industry recognized teaching artists who will illustrate how each craft  supports the overall performance quality of any show. In addition, he will go behind the scenes for In-Park Experiences: where  the Conservatory participants will see up close how the performing arts bring our parks to life. From viewings of shows, atmosphere entertainment, parades and attractions, participants will view our live entertainment experiences through the eyes of those who created them, and learn to recognize the elements of a great show.

Sound like a dream come true?  Of course it is! This week Zack is hard at work looking for the perfect 16 bar musical theater song that showcases his talents and he’s looking for your help.    If you have the perfect song that a 6’4” tap dancing lover of all things Disney should do, let us know here. Next week, we will take you along as he picks the song, and just what goes into getting THE audition of a lifetime not just practically, perfect in every way!
