Birthdays at Disneyland-Hakuna Mata Monday

Birthday Celebrations Disney Style

Just being at Disneyland is cause for celebration all on its own, but if you’re lucky enough to be celebrating a birthday too, Disney can turn a magical day into an extraordinary one. Last June we celebrated my granddaughter’s 5th birthday Disney style with the “My Disneyland Birthday Party” hosted by none other than Mickey and Minnie and of course Pat E. Cake!  The party started as soon as we checked in at the Plaza Inn on Main Street right in the shadow of Sleeping Beauty Castle.  Everyone in our party was escorted to our special birthday table decked out with all the flair that a Disney birthday should be.  We each received our own party hat with a special one for the birthday girl, a souvenir cup served with an endless supply of a variety of drinks and our very own miniature Mickey birthday cake with frosting and sprinkles for each of us to complete the decorating process.
The fun and merriment continued throughout the hour complete with Conga lines and dance parties all led by Pat E. (short for Patrick Edward) Cake himself.  The highlight of the party of course was the appearance of the main Mouse himself, Mickey and sweetest of sweets, Minnie.  Each birthday child and their guests were treated to a special audience and picture session with Mickey and Minnie along with enough memories to last a lifetime.  Reservations for “My Disneyland Birthday” can be made in person at Plaza Inn, City Hall, at the Guest Relations information kiosks, or by phone when you call the Disney Dine Line at 714-781-DINE or 714-781-3463. Cost is $16.99 per person. Be sure to let them know if you are an Annual Pass Holder for an additional savings.
Looking for other ways to make any birthday a special one?  Stop by City Hall or Guest Services when you enter the Park and pick up a complimentary Birthday button. Think of the fun you’ll have when Cast Members and Characters alike wish you the Happiest of Birthdays throughout the day! Sometimes, a Birthday button can bring special surprises all on its own. On my recent visit to WDW, I was “gifted” with everything from birthday serenades to a free drink and pastry for breakfast to special surpirse reserved seating at several of the live entertainment shows. Talk about truly feeling like an honored guest!

Celebrating your birthday with a meal at one of the full service restaurants in Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park or the Disneyland Resort Hotels? Add to the magic by ordering a Disney Princess Jewelry Box or a Disney Pirate Treasure Chest.  Each box comes with a special surprise and an individual cake. These special additions to any birthday meal are available at all full service restaurants, Character-dining locations as well as through Disney Resort Hotel Room Service for only $15.

For that celebration that needs to go just one-step more, look into booking a Fantasy Celebration Event.  Disney’s Fantasy Celebration Event Staff will roll out the red carpet for not just birthdays but any celebration to help make all your dreams come true. This once in a life event comes complete with characters, entertainment, special surprises, food beverages and more in a variety of locations and themes. Be sure to let the Event Staff know of your plans at least 30 days or more in advance, and then let them take care of all the rest. Call 714-781-Dine for complete details and prices.  Now the only question left to decide is what and how will you be celebrating on your next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth?

  2. When my daughter celebrated her birthday at a WDW party, we heard of a 99 year old who always dreamt of dancing with Mickey. Needless to say, Disney is the place where dreams come true!

  3. This is awesome! We have been there for birthdays but never did more than getting the buttons and having a cake ordered. We celebrated my daughter's 5th at 1900 Park Fare. Not quite the same but she still got a little extra attention so we had a great time :) Never pass up that birthday button. It's not wise to underestimate how powerful that little thing can be!!

  4. We stopped by City Hall and got my husband a birthday button--and he was turning 41! Throughout the day, cast members went out of their way to treat him extra special, on top of all the usual Disney magic! That's a great price for the Disney character birthday breakfast--didn't know it was that reasonable!
