Newlywed and Broke-A Real Life Fairy Tale

Face it, there isn’t anyone that doesn’t love a great fairy tale and a happily ever after ending. Whether it is an old fashioned Disney movie with the Prince finding his Princess, or a modern day romance, we all live vicariously through it. Enter a brand new project “Newlywed and Broke”. Billed as a modern day I Love Lucy, this new web series will use comedy to feature a couple dealing with the strife of every day life that most of us have faced at one time or another in our lives-job loss and financial hardships.  Each episode will feature a new way the couple struggle to make and then save money.

In today’s world, as evidenced by the current Emmy nominations, new shows don’t only turn up on your television screen-they can be brought to you in all sorts of ways and this is just such a series. Like so many others,  our Newlywed and Broke couple are working through Indiegogo to get the project started.

The goal of the company’s Indiegogo campaign was to raise $25,000 to produce a TV quality web series that will first air on the Newlywed and Broke website and that goal has already been surpassed but it’s not too late for you to help be a Fairy Godmother to our happily ever after couple. Check out their fund raising site at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/newlywed-and-broke-a-new-single-camera-comedy and all the great perks they are offering for contributions: For as little as $1 where you will get a great thank you video – all the way up to having yourself written into a webisode for $5,000! Don’t we all want to help make dreams come true?

Here’s a short video you can watch where one of the creators tells you all about the show!

You can follow along to see the campaign progress at:
Help turn our Newlywed and Broke couple into Happily Ever After!

Happy 1st Anniversary to the Disney Gals and Thank you!!

The Disney Gals have been going for over a year now; it seems like only yesterday when Gayle asked if anyone would like to form a blog together! The past year had a lot of ups and downs and learning curves and learning who can handle what but oh what a year!  Just past our first year’s anniversary we reached 1000 likes on our Facebook Page, I think we can all remember how excited we were when we reach 50 and then 100, 1000 seemed so far away, but it really wasn’t.

Saving Mr. Bank Account

Sorry, couldn't help myself with the title. Pretty darn excited for the movie to come out, as are most of us Disney fans. However, not my blog topic...for now.

Today is full of mixed emotions. On one hand my family leaves in a week to sail on the Fantasy, courtesy of my parents, and I am beyond excited. On the other hand, it looks like Tower of Terror race weekend will not be happening for me because of the budget. Boo! But the whole situation had me thinking about ways I have saved money for Disney trips, and what is working for others. Let me share a couple favorites with you, and I would love to have you share your money saving tips with all of us.

First off, everything, and I do mean everything, goes on my Chase Disney VISA card. For those unfamiliar, you can earn up to 2% back on groceries, gas, dining and Disney! Everything else will earn 1%. When you are ready for your Disney trip, Chase will transfer the dollars you earned to a rewards card that can be used at most all Disney locations. It amazes me how quickly the reward dollars add up.

Second, I follow sites like Couponing to Disney or Mash Up Mom to make sure I'm getting the best deals I can for shopping in my neighborhood. Plus, they have many great printable coupons that stack on top of any manufacturer's coupons.

Finally, I do what so many of you do, the old change jar trick. Any change in my pocket at the end of the day goes in the jar. It really does add up, take a look:

Now for the fun part - CONTEST!

My change jar is 6 inches tall by 4 inches wide and deep. The total weight is 19.4 pounds. The person who comes closest to guessing the amount in the jar will win a pin from the Disney Fantasy! All you need to do is leave your guess on our blog or Facebook page, and if you have a money saving tip, please leave that too!

The jar will be counted Friday night so you have until then to study the picture. Good luck and happy savings!

Celebrating Christmas in July with Honorary Guy Bob

A Look at What's Coming to Disney Parks this Holiday Season

Most people who know me or follow my blog are aware of how much I enjoy the holidays. Our family loves decorating for the holidays and making new memories each season. Celebrating Christmas in July is something I started doing a few years ago, and this year MagicalDaddy.com is full of festive fun!

This month, I've shared some fun photos of Vintage Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort and taken a peek at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Walt Disney World Resort. One of my most favorite things about Disney Parks is how they magically transform the parks into a season of sparkle during the holidays.

The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort is transformed into a winter wonderland with festive wreaths, bows, garland, sparkling lights, parades and towering Christmas trees. The fun includes the Holiday Wishes nighttime spectacular: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season fireworks, live entertainment with Disney characters dressed up for the holidays, and much more! To learn more about Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, visit www.disneyworld.com/christmasparty.

Did you know?
There are 8.5 million lights strung throughout
Walt Disney World Resort during the holiday season.

Disney Characters in festive apparel, "it's a small world" Holiday, and of course hundreds of thousands of lights transform the entire Disneyland Resort into a winter wonderland during the holiday season. Even Cars Land at Disney California Adventure park goes all-out for the holidays. To learn more about Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, visit www.disneyland.com/holidays.

If you and your family love the holiday season, I would encourage you to think about spending Christmas with Disney Parks. This is just a taste of what is in store this year and whether you visit Walt Disney World Resort in Florida or Disneyland Resort in California, your holiday season is sure to be full of magic and merriment.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season! Thanks for celebrating Christmas in July with me this year!

Honorary Gal Dawn Talks About the Aulani

Around & About at Aulani

Honorary Gal Dawn is back with us to take us to the Disney Island Paradise that is the Aulani, located on the island of Oahu in Hawaii!

Aloha! I know visiting Hawaii is on your family’s bucket list and visiting Aulani Resort & Spa is no exception. My ohana was fortunate enough to visit Spring 2012.

Aulani offers magical activities & entertainment to delight the entire family, but I want to switch it up a bit. I want to help your ohana experience Hawaiian culture outside of Aulani; this is a Hawaiian vacay after all. Enjoy the authentic activities around the island, so you can enjoy all that Hawaii has to offer. Ideally you’ll want your family to suggest a few ideas of what Hawaii means to them & then discuss the most interesting amongst your wolf pack & decide a communal plan for all visiting. Here are some of the activities my ohana participated in, whilst visiting Hawaii:

·      Matsumoto Shave Ice- Take a scenic drive down Oahu’s North Shore to Haleiwa & enjoy the famous “Matsumoto Shaved Ice.”

D23 Will be fit for Any Princess!

HARRODS’ DISNEY PRINCESS DRESSES MAKE THEIR U.S. DEBUT
AT THE D23 EXPO IN TREASURES OF THE WALT DISNEY ARCHIVES
Plus, New Panels on “The Lost Chords” and Mary Poppins Announced

A stunning display of exclusive gowns inspired by Disney’s iconic Princesses will make their U.S. debut at the D23 Expo inside the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit. These handcrafted designs by world-leading designers will be available for viewing each day of the event, August 9–11 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Included are works inspired by the individual stories of the Disney Princesses by Ralph & Russo (Tiana), Versace (Cinderella), Elie Saab (Aurora), Marchesa (Ariel), Escada (Jasmine), Missoni (Mulan), Roberto Cavalli (Pocahontas), Jenny Packham (Rapunzel), Valentino (Belle), and Oscar de la Renta (Snow White). The stunning dresses were first showcased in an ultra-glamorous set of window displays at Harrods, the luxury store in Knightsbridge, London, during the 2012 holiday season.
In addition, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club is announcing two additional presentations. As we near the award-winning film’s 50th anniversary, Disney Legend and Walt Disney Archives Chief Archivist Emeritus Dave Smith will host “Behind the Scenes of Walt Disney’s Mary Poppins.” Guests will learn the complete story of how Walt Disney first discovered the book, worked on the script with author P.L. Travers, brought in the Sherman Brothers to write a memorable score, selected an unforgettable cast, oversaw actual filming, and celebrated at a gala Hollywood premiere.
During “Secrets of ‘The Lost Chords,’” Grammy® Award-winning producer and resident Disney Music historian, Randy Thornton will reveal some of the secrets behind Disney’s “lost” songs written for classic Disney films by legendary Disney composers (such as the Sherman Brothers) that were essentially lost for decades—until now. Plus, as a special part of this exclusive D23 event, guests will be among the very first to hear songs currently in production from a significant upcoming “Lost Chords” release.

Disney Artist and Historian Stacia Martin will present “Sounds Delightful: An Illustrated Audio Adventure,” which will take guests on an entertaining trip across the decades via vintage Disney Vinyl Recordings from her extensive personal collection. Forgotten favorites from the family turntable of yesteryear will be heard along with rare promotional and production tracks... including never-before-heard musical moments from Walt Disney's own "journey down the Yellow Brick Road."

For presentation times, dates, and locations (subject to change), please visit D23Expo.com.
