Disney Infinity 2.0! Get Ready to Assemble!

Our family LOVES to play Disney Infinity!  When I received an invitation to the Disney Infinity Live Event on Google Hangouts today, I quickly RSVP'd and told my husband the great news.  We heard some rumblings regard the release of Disney Infinity 2.0, and this invitation confirmed the rumors.  We both also heard about the possible inclusion of Marvel characters in the new version, and were pleased as punch to see Captain America's shield at the conclusion of the unlisted YouTube teaser trailer.  With the title, "Get Ready to Assemble" we could only assume that the rest of the Avengers would be making an appearance in Disney Infinity 2.0, how exciting!

So, at 1:00 EST yesterday, I tuned in to see what Disney Infinity 2.0 would include.  Expected with the starter pack to be released in Fall 2014 is an Avengers Playset, three Avengers, and two new interactive game pieces for structured toy box mode play.

There were six characters that will be released in the fall, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America, with over a dozen more scheduled for release in the future.  Eighty new power disks, released in two different waves with include costume changes, vehicle and scenery changes such as Asgard and other fan favorite Marvel locations.

Disney Infinity 2.0 will be compatible with all gaming systems and computers, including PS4 and XBOX One.  All figures, power disks, toyboxes and even the base are backwards/forward compatible.

Future announcements will be made about additional Disney themed characters and additional Marvel playsets to be released with 2.0 (Spiderman, Nick Fury, M.O.D.O.K., Loki, Rocket Raccoon & Groot did appear briefly on screen), but for now, the announcement of improved game play seemed to be the source of excitement from Disney Interactive.  For example, all character skills and abilities will be completely customizable, with emphasis on improved locomotion, including hover mode and forward flight,  and better character combat.  Players should be ready to see "expressive and true to character" combat modes which include the ability for Captain America to upgrade his shield's ability, customize range combat for Hawkeye, the ability for Thor to call lightening and his hammer, and use the Hulk's rage mode which is to be the most powerful in the game.

Disney Interactive listened to its players and made some significant upgrades to Toy Box mode, including structured game play via the disks (Tower Defense and Dungeon Crawler games), and an easy to use brush mode for quickly building cities, race tracks, dungeons, castles, tree houses and more.  Players can look forward to building the interiors of building, including the players own "home" that can display the players progress.  Anyone want to build Tony Stark's mansion?

This is just a super quick overview of all of the awesomeness discussed.  You can be sure that I'll be counting down the days until I can purchase the starter pack and remaining figures!
