#Disneyland60.....Today In Disneyland History.....August 1, 1953

Donald Duck Short "The New Neighbor Donald" Released

August 1, 1953

On August 1, 1953 Disney released the Donald Duck short The New Neighbor, with the incomparable and beloved Clarence Nash as the voice of Donald. The plot of this classic short evolved around Donald moving into a new home, only to discovers his neighbor is a slob, a mooch, and has an out-of-control dog!  Luckily today Donald has a new home on the middle of the high seas in the heart of Mickey's Toontown . This interactive fun filled city of topsy-turvy architecture and whimsical sculptures is the place where many of your favorite Toons call home!  Hop on board Donald's Boat, The Miss Daisy, docked where else but on Toon Lake? And if you look very closely at The Miss Daisy, named for Donald's beautiful feathered friend, a bird’s eye view will help you discover that this particular boat is in the shape of Donald. With all the little duck touches you can't help but "quack" up!  Check out Donald's sailor suit hanging out to dry on the laundry line and pull the ship's whistle to trigger water spouts on deck. Below decks, you can see Donald's favorite photos and sea-worthy rain gear. With a rope ladder and the spiral staircase, you'll never want to be a landlubber ever again!  Never fear, for grown-ups, there's a shady rest and viewing area right next door.  Keep in mind that the residents of Toontown close up shop early each night in preparation for the Disneyland’s nighttime fireworks spectacular.  And that’s what happened today in Disneyland’s history.

Wake Up With Disney and Donald Duck!

Disney fans are in for a treat as they can now Rise and Shine to the angelic voice of none other than...

Donald Duck!

Okay, so it's not angelic at all but it sure is cute and there's nothing quite like listening to an irritated Donald Duck when you refuse to wake up promptly! That'll get ya movin! In addition to being an alarm clock, the app also provides an animated weather forecast, flashlight, and nightlight functionality. There are several interactive features that allow you to tickle and poke the famous duck to see what kind of reaction you can get, as well as help him play a little golf, dance around, and more! For a limited time, this app is also offering two included costume/ background changes (Safari and Fire Chief). Currently, the app is only compatible with the iPhone, iPad Touch, iPad running iOS 5.0 or later and is priced at $0.99.
