International Food and Wine Festival is coming to EPCOT September 28, 2012–November 12, 2012.

Epcot is a paradise for us Foodie folks. From Le Cellier Steakhouse in the Canada Pavilion, to La Cantina De San Angel in the Mexico Pavilion, the food at EPCOT has been earning almost as much attention as the attraction.

During the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, international kiosks are spread around World Showcase like pixie dust.

My favorite festival features top chefs as well as domestic and international wineries. There is something for every taste bud.

Years ago I was thrilled to cross off the International Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT and I have made it a yearly pilgrimage ever since.  If you haven't been yet, I highly recommend you change that.  They serve up delicious plates and Disney magic. Honestly, who doesn't like world famous chefs and Disney?

If you’re a cultivated cook who’s always looking to tackle a new cuisine or technique they have a full line up of classes and seminars. If your idea of cooking is microwaving a frozen meal you will learn things that will amaze you.

The Disney Chef’s tempt your taste buds with both familiar and new or exotic flavors.  Part of the charm is heading to the ones you have gone to in the past but I love exploring the new kiosks. Last year for something new we hunted down the Hawaii and Caribbean Islands locations. This year will highlight Vegan specialties as well as local Florida favorites. I found Argentina’s fare to be fabulous but my favorite was the lamb at Australia (this year it will change). If it's cold or raining, warm up with the Cheddar Soup from Canada.

Use snacks from the DDP (Disney Dining Plan) at any of the sampling stations. It is easiest to pay with a gift card that attaches to your wrist. No fumbling around looking for it.

As the day turns into night find your way to the Eat to the Beat Concert at America Gardens Theatre. There is live entertainment every night at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m. The Eat to the Beat Concerts are a fun way to rest your feet and enjoy the evening.
Work your way around the World Showcase slowly. Take pleasure in a bite, a drink, some music and perhaps an attraction or two.

How to-
Look online to book special classes and seminars. Comprehensive lists can also be found on the Disney Food Blog.

Low cost seminars with special guests such as Cat Cora from Iron Chef and Kouzzina, should be booked right away because they sell out.

When arriving at EPCOT, Stop by the Festival Welcome Center and get a passport first - it is actually a menu of the whole festival.

It is important to check the daily schedule for the latest information.
For more details, visit the Festival Information desk. The Cast members are really helpful and they will point you in the direction you are looking for.

Next you can beeline it to the Marketplace to find examples of world famous cuisine.

I am usually a park commando but on F&W days I let my kids sleep in. Getting to EPCOT at 10 a.m. so we are near World Showcase when it opens allows you to be right where the action is before the crowds.

For breakfast I love to grab a freshly baked waffle with berry compote and whipped cream at …wait for it… the Belgium pavilion.

Take a look at your list because you do not want to get to a stand and feel too full to try something that is high on your list. If that happens rest assured that you will walk back to the front of EPCOT to see Future World, and walk back.

Epcot theme park admission is required and some events require additional fees. The phone lines open at 7 a.m. August 14 for reservations for all of the ticketed events – call 407-WDW-FEST (939-3378). Booking for Annual Passholders, DVC Members, in addition to Tables in Wonderland Members will begin August 10th at 8am EST for seminars, demos, and Mixology events only.
You can also book some of the hottest tickets online at epcotfoodfestival.com.

Most of us love to walk around and Epcot is the place to do just that, Perhaps that’s why we spend 2 1/2 to 3 days there every visit – we are truly hooked!!

I will be making memories at Food and Wine festival when this annual event returns to Epcot theme park this fall! The 17th Annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival runs September 28, 2012–November 12, 2012.

  2. Great post! I'm so excited about being there opening weekend. I've even put my son at the Sandcastle Club one evening so that my husband and I can walk around sampling and enjoying everything without the pressure to hurry that comes from a child. Thanks for sharing, Lori!
